Love Walking
The Case of the Quiet Return
You thought sitting still would bring clarity.
You sat there, trying not to force it—
while quietly forcing it anyway.
Cute.
What actually happened:
You stared at your screen.
Opened three tabs.
Ate something you weren’t even hungry for.
And ended up more confused than when you started.
So, finally, you walked.
Just out the door. No plan. No AirPods.
The kind of walk that says, “I need to move before I self-destruct politely.”
And a few blocks in—nothing miraculous—
but something shifted.
The noise faded.
The pressure let go.
And there you were again.
Breathing. Thinking.
Remembering that the world doesn’t spin faster just because you’re sitting still.
The Argument
You thought productivity meant sitting down and trying harder.
But your best thoughts?
They didn’t come from effort.
They came from rhythm.
Walking didn’t fix the problem.
It just gave you space to realize it wasn’t as complicated as you made it out to be.
The Tool
Here’s what I do now:
- I walk early—before the inbox, before the swirl.
- No phone. No distractions. Just movement.
- I don’t go anywhere specific. I just go.
- I let the thoughts come. I don’t chase them.
Sometimes I return with an idea.
Sometimes I just return.
Both are good.
Because what matters is this: I
do return.
